I have a floor painted with oil paint and oil glazes. (Linseed oil, japan drier were also used) The floor people are coming next week to seal it. I have heard some sealers are not appropriate for floors painted in oil (some yellow, some will actually melt the paint.) All of the other floors he will be doing will be sealed with a urethane. I want to apply a "pickled" finish on a bathroom vanity in my new home. The vanity is still unfinished, pre-sanded, and birch wood. I have been practicing on birch boards with both oil-based and water-based white stains. So far, not so good results. Any tips? Thanks. |

I am afraid to paint my pine stained cabinets white but I want to refresh them and really like the look of glazing. Painter will paint them white but will not fool around with glaze. Is it that hard? The cabinets are in great shape( 18 yrs old) and have a honey oak stain on them. Some dings I need to sand and then- restain before glazing? where can I see glaxing examples- instructions, etc. Thanks in advance for any and all advise. |

hi I painted my french provincial bedroom furniture in an off white oil base paint, trim in water base metallic gold. I would like to put a protective wax or something which I could rub on over my all most flat paint. Do you have any suggestion what product i could use besides the brushed or sprayed on finish. thanks for now. Emmy |

My question is" I am doing an approx. 3'x4' wall painting and am wondering if it can be done on canvas, then removed from the wall in a few years and saved? Would I stretch the canvas on a wooden frame, prime and paint it, then cut the dry painting from the frame and glue to wall? Is it then possible to blend the edges enough to make it look like it is actually painted on the wall? Or, is there a better technique?" I have not ...... read more |
