Subject: Painting over tiles

Our new home has a bathroom with pleasant grey-white tiles, but they are edged off with a flowery pink-grey border tile which limits the color scheme. Can I paint over these border tiles instead of having to remove them? What paint is best for this? Can anyone help, please?
