Subject: Restoring a plaster ceiling covered in canvas
Message:
hello-hope you can help me. I live in an 1790 home in New England and all the ceilings were covered in suspended canvas in the 1910-1920's. the original horsehair plaster is about 4" above the canvas. we have had a plumbing leak which caused the plaster to fall on the canvas and now have a slightly ripped and severely bulging ceiling. do you know how to repair this??? I do have some of the old canvas from restoring another room but would like to retain the canvas ceiling in the damaged room.

any leads are greatly appreciated.

thank you, Barrie
