Subject: Questions on sponging
Message:
I would be grateful for any help regarding questions concerning the painting of my upstairs/ downstairs hallways:
1. I would like to achieve a subtle effect of overall soft yellow. Is it best to use the darkest shade as the base colour, then sponge over the lighter shades, or is it trial and error?
2. I have had various (and therefore confusing) solutions to this question: Is it best to use a vinyl satin base and then vinylmatt+water+scumble glaze for the top sponging coats or vinyl satin+above mixture, or do you have any better suggestions?
3. I have heard 2 opinions for a subtle, soft effect: Is it better to sponge on both layers, or to "sponge off" the 2nd, and sponge on the third?

Sorry for the many questions, but I would be grateful for any advice you could give.

Sandra
