For a fresh, summer look a pale yellow for the walls, with a Rag Roll or Sponge effect will be cheery.
Another option is to paint the walls in a pale blue, then use the carpet, window treatments and furniture fabrics to add interest in the room. Complementary colors, such as yellow, orange, coral and pale red tones, can be both soothing, while adding a dynamic flare. Osbourne and Little offer some great fabrics that are bold, colorful and contemporary. Patterns have exaggerated shapes or geometric influences.
