Subject: Colorwashing Colors

I wiil be removing wallpaper in my kitchen and want to colorwash them in neutral or earth tones. Can you please suggest what colors would be best to use to give a rich, but airy look! I have high walls in part of the kitchen. The rest of the house has white furniture with lots of wood trim. Would it be best to use a light base coat with a darker glaze or visa-versa? Thank you.
