general tips on safely disposing left-over and unused paint materials.

waste collection program is provided for your convenience. Please follow the
link to find a local hazardous waste collection location and stay clean,
healthy and safe.

Acrylic / Latex:
Use completely or dispose of properly. Dry, empty containers may be recycled
in a can recycling program.
Rag disposal: Wash rags after use in warm soapy water, or allow to dry
completely and dispose in household receptacle.
Oil / Alkyd:
Many products contain organic solvents which can cause adverse effects to
the environment if not handled properly. Save unused product for touch up
purposes or dispose in at your regional household hazardous waste collection
program. Dry, empty containers may be recycled in a can recycling program.
Rag disposal: Soak soiled rags and waste immediately after use in a
water-filled closed metal container. Rags used with oil based products may
spontaneously combust and should never be left in a pile or in a non-ventilated
environment to dry.
Shellac:
Use completely or dispose of properly. Dry, empty containers may be recycled
in a can recycling program.
